Arlington, VA. –  January 9, 2015PBS Distribution announced today it is releasing “GREAT ESTATES OF SCOTLAND” on DVD January 13. This stunning series takes an in-depth look at the fascinating stories and inner workings of four of Scotland’s most magnificent country estates, through the eyes of not only the current owners and the ghillies, gardeners, and housekeepers that keep them running, but also from the viewpoint of the paying guests who frequent these sumptuous country estates.

GREAT ESTATES OF SCOTLAND” will be available on DVD January 13, 2015. The run time of this program is approximately 240 minutes on 2 discs, and the DVD SRP is $29.99. The program will also be available for digital download. The four estates profiled in this program are listed below.

Dumfries House

Tour the interior of the fabulous Dumfries House, an architectural gem that boasts the largest collections of Chippendale furniture in the world. This once-neglected mansion was dramatically brought back to life and saved by HRH The Prince of Wales.

Inveraray Castle

For more than 500 years, Inveraray Castle has housed the chieftain of one of the world’s best-known family clans, the Clan Campbell. It is now the home to the 13th Duke of Argyll, His Grace Torquhil Ian Campbell, and his young family. Visited by thousands every year, the castle was the stand-in for “Duneagle” in “Downton Abbey Season 3.”

Rosslyn Chapel

Uncover myths and legends of mysterious Rosslyn Chapel, where the climax of Dan Brown’s “The Di Vinci Code” was filmed. Many believe it to be home to the Holy Grail, the skull of St. Matthew or John the Baptist or even of Jesus Christ. The film features intricate carvings that have not been seen in all their glory for over a century.  This program seeks answers and makes breathtaking discoveries.

Kincardine Castle

The 70-room Kincardine Castle is home to only two people, Andrew and Nicky Bradford. In a little more than a century, the castle and its surrounding 3,000-acre estate has gone from being a trifling extravagance for its fabulously rich owners, to a passionate struggle to keep it afloat for its present-day occupants.
